WHO IS RICKY VERSETTI
Ricky Versetti is a Latin American artist whose dynamic English & Spanish style brings a refreshing sound to hip hop ranging from melodic hooks to strategically delivered cadences over vibey ambient beats. Consequently, his style has also attracted other artists and producers to feature him on projects as a songwriter.
While Ricky always appreciated music from a very young age often finding himself mesmerized by the moves and sounds of Michael Jackson, it wasn’t until his early teenage years that he first discovered his love of music from an artist perspective. Upon realization, it was no surprise that while he was attending Ennis junior high school located in Ennis, TX, his childhood hometown, he decided to join the band. His Instrument of choice: Tenor Sax. However, three years later, hard times fell upon the family and Ricky was forced to quit band. Not long after, his beloved mother would lose her battle with cancer at the young age of 34 years; Ricky was only 14 years old. Through that devastation his passion for creating music would only grow stronger as he continued to find his way. This prompted a move to the border city of Eagle Pass, TX. It was there that he would meet a group of individuals that would introduce him to the art of “freestyling”. Soon after, Ricky knew he had indeed found his calling. His high school years would find him forming his craft in the hip hop realm of music and also delivering an outstanding live performance at the school’s talent show which commanded a phenomenal response of praises including those from many of the parents who were in attendance. This moved Ricky into an even deeper realization that music was what he would aspire to do for the rest of his life.
After overcoming several obstacles over the following years, in 2013, Ricky began a journey of collaborations with local artists. Subsequently, an opportunity came his way when he was invited to open up for Houston-based artist, Li’l Flip. Of course Ricky said yes. It was a major chance for Ricky to gain exposure and momentum. The show was a success and it would be the catalyst for many more opportunities to come his way. Many people had Ricky on their radar and this included well-known music label, Street Made Music Group aka SMMG. SMMG was founded in Eagle Pass and is now based in San Antonio. They asked Ricky to come on board to which Ricky obliged and shortly after he moved to San Antonio.
Ricky began to work the local circuit of San Antonio. In 2014, Ricky entered and won the Coast2Coast Live Interactive Showcase: San Antonio Edition. The grand prize included an all-expense paid trip to Miami to attend the Coast2Coast Music Conference. As a result of being a part of the Coast2Coast Winners Circle, Ricky was invited to contribute a song to a compilation album under the Coast2Coast record label. It was there that he would network with several industry heavyweights. He began to develop relationships with some of those individuals whom would later play significant roles in helping him to advance his music career.

More recently, Ricky can be found touring various South Texas cities alongside highly-acclaimed actor, JT Campos, who is currently featured on USA Network’s original series: Queen of The South as the character Boaz Jimenez. While this may sound like an odd pairing, it’s genius! Their collaborative partnership started in 2015 which allowed for Ricky to consistently be on the set of Queen of the South. During that time, JT presented an opportunity to Ricky. He was asked to craft music around JT’s “Boaz” character on Queen Of The South and Ricky gladly accepted. As a result, Ricky was also given the opportunity to make his debut acting cameo in the show which you can catch on Season 3, episode 12. That small taste has inspired Ricky to also pursue acting roles. In addition to his role on Queen of the South, he has also appeared in the webisode series: Sponsors.
